IMANARE – IMPLICIT ANTHROPOLOGY OF REFORMS IN EDUCATION

DURATION : 05/2025 – 07/2027

PIMANARE – IMPLICIT ANTHROPOLOGY OF REFORMS IN EDUCATION

The IMANARE project explores implicit, often unspoken assumptions about human nature that shape

educational reforms in Europe. At the centre of its inquiry is the image of the human being reflected

and promoted by education systems through curricula, policies, and reform discourse. The project is

based on the premise that these assumptions are embedded in the language of reform, in

educational goals, and in the ways success is measured, even when they are rarely made explicit.

IMANARE refers to this underlying vision as implicit anthropology. The project brings together

partners from Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, and Belgium and involves researchers, teachers, educators,

students, policymakers, and the wider public. It is primarily aimed at education professionals,

researchers, and policy designers, with the goal of fostering more reflective, inclusive, and ethically

grounded education systems. By analysing the anthropological assumptions underlying educational

reforms, IMANARE encourages thinking about education not merely as a technical or economic issue,

but as a social and cultural commitment, grounded in a European vision of education as a process of

becoming human together.
